لكنّ ذاكرة يوسف لم تحتفظ بشكل حقيقيّ سوى بتلك الزّيارة الغريبة من أحد الأقرباء، رجُل يقولون إنّه مصاب باضطراب عقليّ، لم يقل شيئاً يومها، دخل وألقى التّحيّة, ولم يجلس كالعادة، نظر إلى عينَي يوسف المعتِمَتَين، التفتَ إلى أمّ يوسف بعد دقيقة واحدة، قال بنبرة العارف والطّبيب الذي شخَّص الحالة، والمستعدّ لكتابة الوصفة بثقة لا شكّ فيها: «أنيروا قلبَه! أنيروا قلبَه وسوف يقوم!», لم تفهم أمّ يوسف، سألته عن معنى هذه الجملة، قال شيئاً غريباً، ووعدته أمّ يوسف خيراً كما لو أنّها تأخذه على قدر عقله. عرف يوسف في ما بعد حكاية الرّجُل، قارئ الفلسفة والتّصوّف، والذي أطلق عليه بعض النّاس لقب «ملاك المقبرة»، إذ أنّه كان يذهب إلى مقبرة السّلام في النّجف، يأخذ كتاباً وماءً وبعض الطّعام، يمضي النّهار هناك وهو يقرأ, حتّى إنّ حفّارِي القبور تعرّفوا عليه، ودفعهم فضولهم إلى سؤاله، لم يكن له ميّت بين القبور، قال إنّه يقرأ وحسب، وإنّه يجد السّلام بين الموتى، حيث لا يمكن أن يجده المرء خارج هذا المكان، وإنّه يجيء إلى المقبرة لكي يعزِّز مواجهته مع نفْسه، وهذا كلّ شيء.
