... بيت دلال القوّادة خيَّم عليه الهدوء المعتاد في مثل هذه الاوقات من النهار؛ فالمرأة الشديدة البأس مع الرجال القادمين من قاع المدينة بحثاً عن المتعة التزموا بمواعيد مسبقة لا تستقبلهم خلالها إلا بعد الساعة الثانية ظهراً وما فوق، وذلك حرصاً منها على راحة بنات الهوى عندها اللواتي يسهرن حتى وقت متأخر من الليل.
كان البيت بغرفة الملونة المتعددة وطابقه الأعلى الذي يشهد حروب المتعة بين الرجال الجائعين إلى الاجساد والنساء الباحثات عن المال واللذة معاً هو المكان الوحيد على خط الساحل الذي يعرفه سكان المنطقة ويتجنبون المرور من حوله، ورغم المطالبات والإحتجاجات الخجلى من سكان الحي بغلق المكان أو نقله إلى مكان آخر، إلا أنه ظل في حماية قوات الإحتلال البريطاني حيث راح بعض جنوده يترددون إلى المكان وبعضهم أقام علاقة شبه دائمة مع عدد من النساء المقيمات في الدار.
