كانت خطواته ثقيلة وهو يجرها تجاه خباز عبدالرحيم، وكانت رائحة سمبوسة عبدالقادر هي من أعادته لوعيه بعد أن أسرف في التفكير في كيفية إيصال رسالته لزينب، سارع بالخطى لكي يلحق على دكان " آلو بشير " الذي اشتهت والدته أن يكون من ضمن الغداء الأخير له في البحرين، مر على مسجد " بن مقبل " وسار باتجاه مأتم بن رجب ومأتم العريض ومنه إلى فريج كانو شاقاً طريقه إلى شارع الشيخ عبدالله ماراً بمحلات القماش و " القراشية " وبياعين البهارات ومحلات الحلوى في تلك الجهة حتى يصل لدكان " آلو بشير ".
صادفه رضا الذي يؤمن بالحريات وبقبول الاختلاف بين البشر مهما اختلفت طوائفهم وأديانهم ، والذي تجده في مراسم العزاء في محرم كونه من أسرة لها امتداد شيعي ولكن أخواله سنة كذلك ، وتراه في المواد التي كان يقيمها الصوفيون السنة وكان يردد معهم " الله حي الله " تحير منه الناس ماهو مذهبه وماهو انتماؤه ولكنه كان يجيب:
أنا شيعي وسني في الوقت ذاته ، ولافرق بين الاثنين.
