كتاب نادر في التاريخ الاجتماعي والاقتصادي والعلمي والسياسي لدمشق في القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي. وقد بدأ صاحبه، شيخ الطريق الخلوتية، بكتابته عام 1111 هجرية، وهي سنة وفاة محمد أمين المحبّي صاحب "خلاصة الأثر..."، وانتهى بوفاته في 1153 هجرية، السنة التي بدأ فيها البديري الحلاق بتدوين يومياته التي نشرت بعنوان "حوادث دمشق اليومية".
