يشتمل هذا الكتاب الذي بين يدينا على دراسة تنقسم إلى ثلاث أقسام تم الحديث فيها عن ما يلي: القسم الأول (الشخصية وقياسها) على تقنيات الفحص النفساني. والأسس العامة التي تقوم عليها الإجراءات التطبيقية للاختبار. أما القسم الثاني فقد تضمن اختبار "تفهم الموضوع" وقد وضح فيه الأسس التي يقوم عليها تفسير الروايات والدلالات النفسية التي تغلغلها، كما وتضمن اختبار آخر اعتمد على "بقع أكبر-رو شاخ" ومن خلاله تم توضيح الأسس العامة التي يقوم عليها تقدير الاستجابات والدلالات العيادية. وفي القسم الثالث تم تقديم الاختبارات المتعددة الأبعاد للشخصية. وهي نوع من الاختبارات التي تقيس أكثر من سمة من سمات الشخصية في وقت واحد (اختبار مينسوتا المتعدد الأوجه، واختيار الشخصية السرية).
