وليد الخالدي، مؤرخ بارز ومرجع في القضية الفلسطينية. ولد في القدس سنة 1925. وتخرج من جامعتي لندن وأكسفورد. عمل أستاذاً في جامعة أكسفورد، والجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، وجامعة هارفرد، وزميلاً باحثاً في جامعة برنستون، وزميلاً باحثاً متقدماً(Senior Research Fellow) في مركز دراسات الشرق الأوسط في جامعة هارفرد طوال الفترة 1982-1996. وهو عضو منتخب في الأكاديمية الأميركية للآداب والعلوم. كما أنه عضو مؤسس في مؤسسة الدراسات الفلسطينية وأمين سرها منذ تأسيسها سنة 1963. أسس الخالدي مجلس أمناء أصدقاء المكتبة الخالدية في القدس، وهو أحد مؤسسي الجمعية الملكية العلمية في عمان، وجمعية التعاون الفلسطينية. كتب الخالدي كثيراً بالعربية والإنكليزية في الشؤون العربية والدوليــة. وقد ظـهرت مقــالاته فـي Foreign Affairs; Politique Etrangère; The New York Times وغيرها، وكذلك في كبريات الصحف العربية. ونال العديد من الجوائز على مساهماته الأكاديمية المتميزة.
