تتوزع موضوعات الكتاب على خمسة فصول، ويعاين الفصل الأول صورة القدس في اللوحة التشكيلية وخاصة العناصر الفنية والرمزية التي يتوصل بها الفنانون التشكيليون للتعبير عن البعدين القومي والديني للقدس.
وتحرص الدراسة على تحليل العلامات السيميائية التي تُشكل الفضاء الفني للوحة التشكيلية، وربط دلالة العلامات السيميائية بتفاصيل معاناة القدس وما تتعرض له من تهويد، وتتوسع الدراسة على تمهيد وأربعة محاور.
ويرصد الفصل الثاني حزمة من أشكال التناص في صورة الكاريكاتير، إذ يعالج التناص التراثي، نحو المعتقدات الشعبية والأمثال التي تختزلها صورة الكاريكاتير، والتناص الرمزي الذي يشمل عدداً من الأيقونات الرمزية.
ويختص الفصل الثالث بصورة الطفل الفلسطيني في فن الكاريكاتير وفق رؤية سيميائية تخلل صورة الكاريكاتير للكشف عن الأبعاد الفكرية والفنية، والنفسية، ويتوزع الفصل على ستة محاور متكاملة.
ويعرض الفصل الرابع تجليات ما يسمى ثورات "الربيع" العربي من خلال ثلاثة محاور سيميائية توسل بها فنانون الكاريكاتير في تصوير أحداث ثورات الربيع العربي.
ويحلل الفصل الخامس التشكيل السيميائي لصورة الكاريكاتير التي تعبر عن علاقة المثقف بالسلطة من خلال خمسة محاور تكشف عن التفاعل السلبي والإيجابي بين الرؤى الفكرية للمثقف، والخطاب الثقافي للسلطة.
