يأتي هذا الكتاب ليشكل لبنة صغيرة في سد النقص الذي تعاني منه المكتبة القانونية العراقية والفقر الواضح في إعداد المؤلفات التي تناولت بالشرح أحكام القواعد العامة لمختلف فروع القانون، وبضمن ذلك فرع القانون التجاري، وذلك مقاربة بمثيلاتها في المكتبة القانونية العربية أو الأجنبية.
ولذلك عمد المؤلف إلى الإيجاز في تناول كل موضوع من الموضوعات التي يتناولها هذا المؤلف، فضلاً عن الإقتصار على تناول أحكام موضوعات محددة، كما في تناول بعض أحكام العقود التجارية وعمليات المصارف من دون باقي الأنواع الأخرى، على وفق المفردات الدراسية المعتمدة في الجامعات العراقية بشأن موضوعات القانون التجاري التي تدرس ضمن المرحلة الثالثة في كليات القانون، وفي الفصل الدراسي الأول فحسب.
وبناءً عليه، تم تقسيم الكتاب على وفق الشكل الآتي: الفصل التمهيدي: مقدمة عامة في التعريف بالقانون التجاري وتحديد نطاقه ومصادره، الباب الأول: "الأعمال التجارية"، الباب الثاني: "التاجر"، الباب الثالث: "العقود التجارية"، الباب الرابع: "عمليات المصارف".
