تكمنُ الفضيلةُ اليتيمةُ للزواج بأنّه يكرّسُ شعورنا العميقَ بالحاجةِ للحُبِ، فحالُ من يبحثُ عن الحبِّ والزواجِ معاً هو كحالِ الباحثِ عن العنقاء والغول في فنّ دجاج، والأتعسَ منهُ هو ذاك الذي يبحثُ عن الصداقةِ في الزواج، ومع ذلك لا أستطيعُ إلا أنّ أتعاطفَ مع أولئك الذينَ اقترفوا الزواج كي لا يموتوا وحيدين، حتى إذا حضَر أحدهم الموتُ اكتشفَ أنَّه عاشَ الحياة وحيداً... وحيداً بصحبةِ الآخر.
أفهمُ أسبابَ نجاحِ العلاقةِ الزوجية لدى غالبيةِ السياسيين، فهؤلاء يجيدونَ لُعبة التكاذبِ مع الخصمِ، لكنَّ زواجَ الشعراء يحيرني لأنّه انتحارُ الدهشة، إنمساخ النرجس البري إلى بصلٍ سلموني، وأشبهُ بطائرٍ حرٍّ دوّخ الشِباكَ المتمرسةَ ليسقطهُ راعٍ أعور بحجرٍ طائش.
إنَّ إقدامَ الأحرارِ على الزواج لا يجاريه أسفاً إلا شيّ الصقورِ، أما سواهم فالأمرُ أشبه بوليمة أرانبٍ كلما غشوها ازدادتُ آذانهمُ طولاً، ومع ذلك لا أحدَ يستطيعُ أنْ يُنكرَ أنهم سعداء... سعداء كالقططِ في سوقِ بابِ الجابية.
يا لسَفرجلِ الزمن الرديء!...
