قبل دخولي إلى "ذلك المكان"، كنت أحمل الكثير من الأعباء، كشاب واعد وطموح، ويعيش قصة حب حقيقية: أتابع دراستي في جامعة بيروت العربية، واعمل محرراً للأخبار في "إذاعة صوت الشعب"، بالإضافة لعملي كموظف في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت.
فجأة، انقلب الوضع رأساً على عقب، خرج "ذلك الوحش" من عقلي وسيطر عليّ، فدخلت إلى "ذلك المكان"، حيث أمضيت عشرة أيام بقيت محفورة في ذاكرتي بكل تفاصيلها المريرة، انفصلت عن الواقع، صرتُ إنساناً مختلفاً ومحطماً.
عندما خرجت من "هناك"، كانت أمامي رحلة طويلة ومضنية للعودة إلى حياتي السابقة والوقوف على قدمي من جديد، خسرت حبيبتي، وكدت أخسر نفسي، لكنني قررت الصمود والصبر والقبول.
بعد مرور 27 سنة، عدت إلى "هناك"، لأستعيد ذكرياتي، ولأكتب روايتي التي هي قصة بناء الذات من حطام الذات.
