لا ماء ولا سلام (Book)

This current publication, No water, no peace by Laurel Lockwood Hourani is a moving account of an American’s experience during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in the summer of 1982. As a health sciences instructor at the American University of Beirut, the author was one of the few westerners who lived in West Beirut throughout its siege and recorded the events as she and her family lived through them.

From the author’s description of life during this period, it is reminding that contrary to what some would have the West believe, the Islamic world has most often been and has continued to be, the victim rather than perpetuator of political violence in the Middle East.
