إن قيام الدولة الصهيونية على أرض فلسطين، خلقت تاريخاً ثابتاً للنزاعات بين العرب واليهود. هذه النزاعات مستمرة منذ منتصف القرن الحالي وحتى الآن، ويبين المؤلف العلاقة بين الكيان الصهيوني والدولة العربية، هذه العلاقة التي كانت تدور في دائرة الانتقال للحرب والتحضير لها، أي الحالة التي يمكن تسميتها حالة "اللاحرب واللاسلم" حيث توالت هذه الحالة خلال التاريخ الطويل للصراع العربي-الإسرائيلي. وحروب عام (1948، 1956، 1967، 1973)، والتي حدثت خلال هذه الفترة والتي سوف نخوض في بحثنا هذا عن الخصائص العسكرية لهذه الحروب، مع أسسها وأهدافها.
ومع أن هذه الحروب تختلف عن بعضها البعض، من حيث الخصائص والظروف وموازين القوى العسكرية والسياسية، وخاصة حرب تشرين 173، والتي لا يزال الاهتمام بما أفرزته من دروس مستفادة، حيث يمكن القول بأن تجربة حرب 173 كانت أهميتها وتأثيرها في كثير من المتغيرات التي حدثت بعد هذه الحرب، في تنظيم وطريقة استخدام القوات المسلحة في دول كبيرة من العالم.
