هذا الكتاب هو أبرز مؤلفات محمد السنوسي، وهو مكون من ثلاثة أجزاء، ألفها في ما بين سنة 1300هـ/1883م وسنة 1303هـ/1886م، وجعلها أنموذجا وجزءين وخاتمة. والأنموذج في مزية السفر والجزء الأوّل الذي بين أيدينا فيما رآه من قسم إيطاليا. ويدور هذا الجزء حول عدد من المحاور، أهمها المسائل الفقهية التي تتعلّق بالاجهاض وبالتمثيليات المسرحية وبمسابقة الخيل والرماية وبمسألة طعام أهل الكتاب وطعام الافرنج وذكاتهم وبمسألة لبس المسلم البرنيطة، وكذلك يتطرق للحديث عن العلوم والمخترعات، ويعتبر من أهم ما جاء في الكتاب هي المقارنات بين العالم العربي الاسلامي والعالم الغربي المسيحي.
