"بعد مسافة يسيرة، أجد بساتين على جانبي الطريق كليهما، أشجار تفاح تتألق تحت شمس الأصيل، مثقلة بالثمار، أمدّ يدي وأقطف واحدةٌ، أعضّ فيها، آكلُُ، وفي التأكد المعجز من أنني آمنٌ أخيراً، أسير تحت البراعم المبكرة"... هكذا تنتهي الرواية لـ"ديفيد معلوف" "الإرهابي ملعقة طفل" "الرواية الجدل بين الوعي والإحساس".
فالبطل ليس نابوليونياً، ليس راسكولينكوف بالطبع، وهو يهزأ بثوريي القرن التاسع عشر الذين يحرّمون على أنفسهم الكحولّ والنساءّ وحتى التبغَ، إنه ليس ناسكاً، بل يعتبر نفسه رياضياً، متزلجاً على الهملايا، طيّار مسافات طويلة مثل لندبرع، وهو لا يعمل وحيداً، إنه داخل جماعة، والجماعة داخل منّظمة، وهو محترفُ تماماً، لكنه سيكون "حراً" بعد إنتهاء مهمته، وقد يعود سائحاً إلى ساحة القتل (ربما مع زوجته وطفل)...
نعتقد ان الرواية هذه، تحمل أسئلةً يصعبُ حصرُها في نسق معيّن أو سياق، أهي "الجريمة والعقاب" في ضوء مختلف، وظروفٍ مغايرة؟.
