إن عملية تكوين الفكر الإنساني عملية تراكمية، ينبني فيها اللاحق على السابق، ويتخذ فيها الفكر الحديث من القديم منطلقاً له، بعد أن ينتقي من نتائج القديم ما يصلح أن يعتبره مسلّمات يبني عليها مقدماته.
ولا شك أن مجال الفلسفة هو الميدان الأبرز التي تظهر فيه بوضوح هذه التكاملية للفكر الإنساني، وإن كان لكل أمّة فلسفتها المميزة لها، إلا أن قسماً كبيراً من المباحث الفلسفية تكون مشتركة بين الأمم؛ وما هذا إلا لأن الفلسفة بحث عن الحقيقة، التي غُرز في نفس الكائن الحي البحث عنها، فتنوعت الآراء واختلفت بإختلاف الناظرين، ولكنّ هذا الإختلاف لا يعني بحال أبداً إختلاف الحقيقة؛ لأن الحقيقة لا بد من ثبوتها في نفسها، وثباتها على الرغم من تعدد الآراء، فقد يصيب كل واحد من الناظرين طرفاً من الحقيقة، ولكن هذا لا يجب أن يؤدي إلى إقتسامها بينهم.
لو أمكن إقتسام الحقيقة، أو إختلافها بإختلاف المفكرين، لاعتبر كل من النقيضين حقيقة، ولزال المقياس الثابت الذي يمكن إعتباره مصحِّحاً لعملية الفكر.
وهذا الكتاب ردٌّ علمي رصين، توسّل صاحبه بالأدلّة العلمية المتينة لنقض قول من قال بنسبيّة الحقيقة!...
