تحتل الدراسة الفلسفية للدين أهمية بالغة اليوم من أجل فهم العقل الذي أنتج الدين ، ومن أجل معرفة مفاهيمه ومقولاته وتبيُّن المعقول فيها من غير المعقول . فالفلسفة لا تقدم رؤية للوجود فحسب ، بل تقدم قراءة عقلية للدين ، وذلك يعد جزءاً من مهامها . أما بالنسبة للموقف الذي أعلنه الغرب من الدين ، فيتمثل بالقطع بشكل نهائي مع ثقافة الدين القديم وفكره وعقائده مهما كان مضمونها . فمن المعروف أن الكنيسة كانت تزعم لنفسها الإجابة على كل الأسئلة ، غير أن العلم لم يوقفه ممارسات الكنيسة ، واستطاع العلماء تحقيق إنجازات كبيرة في ميادين مختلفة كالفيزياء والفلك والطب والكيمياء ...
وهذا الكتاب هو بمثابة مقاربة ( فلسفية - دينية ) لفهم حقيقة الدين والمسار الفكري الذي أخذه العقل الغربي منذ انبثاق اللحظة الحداثية التي استبدلت الذين الطبيعي بدين الكنيسة القديم ، وتداعيات ذلك على واقع الإنسان المعاصر . ويقدم مؤلفه رؤية لما يسميه " الدين الكامل " كما هو أو كما يجب أن يكون من أجل مصالحة الإنسان مع الخالق ومع نفسه بشكل أساسي ..
