لقد أثقلت قيود التاريخ وعصبيات المجتمع وزيف السياسة وفساد الواقع، على العقل الإسلامي، وصارت الفتاوى والأفكار التي تتلبّس بالإسلام وتصل إلى حد التناقض، تعبيراً عن كثافة التشوّه، حتى أنه أصبح من اليسير التشريع للفساد السياسي والإنحطاط القيمي، والتخلّف بإسم الإسلام.
وسادت الفتاوى التي تكفّر كل مخالف، والتي لا تنتج سوى العنف والمزيد من العصبيات المذهبيّة والطائفية والحزبية.
لقد بات ضرورياً التحرر من حمّى المذهبيّة وقيود المجتمع وإكراهات السلطة، وعدم تحويل الإختلاف إلى قوة عمياء، لا تعقل، تقوم على إحتقار الإنسان وإستئصال الآخر، أو نفيه بعيداً عن أية مفاهيم حقوقية أو أخلاقية، وعدم تبرير أعمال إجرامية أو فساد أو إستبداد بآيات من القرآن الكريم.
إن تحرير العقل الإسلامي ضرورة، وذلك عبر نقد المسلّمات والبديهيات التاريخية ليصبح كل شيء قابلاً للنقد وإعادة النظر، وهذا ما يسعى إليه هذا الكتاب.
