تتميز هرمينوطيقا بول ريكور، الفيلسوف الفرنسي، بإثارة تناقضات الفلسفة الغربية المعاصرة والتعبير عن معضلاتها، وتنازع تأويلاتها، وتكشف عن روح قلقة وإرتيابية ونقدية لكنها مناضلة وجريئة، تعالج تساؤلاتها دون خوف ولا مواربة، بكل ما يلزم فعل التفلسف من أصالة وبعد نظر وحكمة وإستقلالية، ولم تنشأ تلك الفلسفة مما أخذه ريكور من أعلامها أو تركه فحسب، بل هي بحث نقدي أيضاً في معطيات متعددة وغنية لمسار فلسفي طويل، كان قد بدأه ريكور مع الفلسفة التأملية والوجودية والفينومينولوجيا ومناقشة التحليل النفسي وعلماء الأنثروبولوجيا ومناقشة التحليل النفسي وعلماء الأنثروبولوجيا وفلاسفة البنيوية والفلسفة التحليلية، واستثمار أرسطو وأفلاطون وأوغسطين، وإستدعاء ماركس ونيتشه وهابرماس، وفيتجنشاتين وفون رايت وأنسكومب، وانتهى به المطاف إلى هرمينوطيقا فلسفية لا تتنكر لكل مكونات مسارها الفلسفي، وتحاول أن تفهم الذات من خلال وساطة الرموز والنصوص والثقافات والأفعال الإنسانية، وتعرض نفسها في سياق أفق أنثروبولوجي همه البحث عن ماهية الإنسان ككل.
يريد هذا البحث أن يمسك بجوهر تلك الفلسفة، وهو في نظري جدل الفهم والتفسير، الذي يشكل محور تأويلها وأساس وحدتها وتماسكها الداخلي؛ وبالتالي، فهو بحث يتساءل عن طبيعة العلاقة بين الفهم والتفسير في فلسفة ريكور، وكيف رتب هذا الأخير لتلك العلاقة؟ وما أهميتها في فلسفته؟ وأخيراً كيف نتلقى في سياق فلسفتنا العربية والإسلامية فلسفة التأويل المبنية على جدل الفهم والتفسير عند ريكور؟.
