في هذا الكتاب يجمع المؤلف مقالات متناثرة كتبها في مناسبات مختلفة وفترات متباعدة عن عدد من الشعراء كلاً على حدة، محاولاً من ذلك أن يقرب موضوعاتها مع بعضها البعض. في كل مقالة يجد القارئ صورة مختصرة عن كل مبدع وما أنتجه خلال رحلته حتى إعداد الكتاب دون أن يغفل المؤلف إعلان رأيه ووجهة نظره في نهاية الكتاب.
يدرس المؤلف في مقالاته أدباء من بينهم أحمد العجمي الشاعر البحريني من خلال ديوانه "إنما هي جلوة ورؤى"، وكذلك الشاعر علوي الهاشمي من خلال ديوانه الثالث "محطات التعبد" وحمدة خميس، الشاعرة البحرينية المميزة في دائرة الشعر العربي على أرض البحرين. كما يتناول أدباء آخرين مثل فوزية السندي وإيمان أسيري وعبد الحميد القائد وفاطمة التيتون ومهى الجهني وآخرين.
حساسية التذوق الفني الجديدة للشعر، واليت بدأت تتشكل مع قصيدة التفعيلة فنياً، لم تتطور بما يكفي لتلامس إضاءة قصيدة النثر، إذ يختفي الإيقاع الحاد والجرس الموسيقي بما يفرضه من صرامة القافية في المشهد الشعري، بحيث يشكل إرباكاً لذائقة القارئ وسمعه، كما يزداد حدة عندما يواجه بلغة مشاكسة في تمظهر بنيتها الدلالية التي تخلق فضاءً لغوياً يكسر قواعد التركيب الدلالي المعتاد، ويخلخله من خلال خلق علاقات متضادة حيناً، أو بالربط بين أشياء ليست ذات صلة في بنية التخييل المعتادة، لتبتعد عن المألوف بحيث تدخل تحت حد الإحالة وغيرها، وهي بذلك تتعمد قلب الموازين التي تصورها القدماء كعيوب في النظم، لتوظفها بشكل إيجابي في عملية الإيحاء الفني، وجعلها تحليقاً في فضاء التخييل، وهي تحاول أن تجلو حركة النفس الشاعرة في العصر الحديث كما تنعكس في مرآة الشعر.
ومع تشكل الفن الشعري الجديد المتمثل بقصيدة النثر، وتعدد استخدامات تقنياتها الجديدة المتطورة، و التي باتت مفارقة للدرس التقليدي للشعر، جعلت إمكانية انبعاث بعض جوانب تمنع التواصل بين القصيدة الجديدة وقارئها، ويمكننا أن نلمس بعض تقنيات القصيدة الحديثة كما تتجلى في الحذف، والتكرار، والثنائيات الضدية، والجمل الاعتراضية، والكثافة، والإيجاز، والتوهج، التي تتشكل في النص، والاعتماد في بعض الأحيان على التشكيل البصري، والاستخدام الفني للحروف، والألوان، والأرقام.. الخ..
