أهي عوامل محض داخلية أو محض خارجية حركت الوضع المأزوم في تلك البنية منذ أواخر زمن السلطنة العثمانية؟ أم أنّها عوامل متداخلة تضافرت فيما بينها فتوالدت وتشعّبت وأدّى تفاعلها الدّاخلي إلى هذا الإنفجار بتلقائيّة؟ أم أن إنفجارها تمّ بفعل محركات خارجية؟...
لم يدّعِ الدكتور فؤاد مرعي في كتابه هذا أنَّه يقدّم إجابات وافية وصريحة حول هذه الأسئلة التي تبقى تساؤلات مشروعة أمام كل باحث حول الحراك المعاصر، ولكنّه سعى هنا إلى تشريح عدد من الأحداث وما تحتويه من ظواهر ومؤشرات تدلُ على منطقٍ متناغمِ فيما بينها، في محاولة لوضعها تحت المجهر، مسلّطاً بذلك الأضواء على أواليات تداخل وتفاعل العوامل المختلفة من سياسية وإجتماعية وإقتصادية وثقافية، الذاتي منها، والمُقحَم عليها من خارجها، لنكون أمام مجموعة من النصوص تضيء على مجمل القضايا الشائكة في عالمنا العربي بكلّ ما تثيره من تساؤلات.
نتمنّى أن يُسهم هذا الكتاب في إغناء حالة النقاش حول ما يعتور مجتمعنا من مشكلات، وفي الدّفع بإتجاه وضع الحلول لها، وهو في كلِّ الحالات، كتابٌ جديرٌ بالقراءة.
