الحرية خاطر عزيز في النفوس البشرية، بها نماء القوى الإنسانية، من تفكير وقول وعمل، وبها تنطلق المواهب العقلية متسابقة في ميادين الابتكار والتدقيق؛ فلا يصح أن تسام بقيد إلا قيدا يدفع به عن صاحبه ضر ثابت أو يجلب به نفعه. الحرية أثمن ما يملكه الإنسان، فيجدر بالمسلم أن يعشقها عشقا، ويهيم بها غراما، ويلقنها لغيره ليظاهروه في تحصيلها وإدامتها، كما أن الحرية هي البيئة التي تنفجر فيها كل الأخلاق الإيجابية، والقدرات الإنتاجية، وإذا أراد المسلم توفير المصالح للأمة وتطويرها ودفعها في مدارج الارتقاء فإن الحرية تختصر له الطريق. وفي هذه الدراسة سيجد القارئ معالجة جديدة لأهم الأسئلة المثارة حول الحرية من المنظور الإسلامي: ما الحرية ؟ ! وما القاعدة المرجعية التي تقوم عليها؟ وما هدفها؟ وما معيارها؟ وما حدودها؟ وما مكوناتها الرئيسة؟ وما الفروق الجوهرية بين الحرية في الإسلام والحرية في غيره من الأنظمة؟ وسيجد أيضا رصدا لأهم الاعتراضات المثارة حول مفهوم الحرية في الإسلام، وجوابا موسعا عنها، يعتمد على الكشف عن الأبعاد المتنوعة: الشرعية والاجتماعية والنفسية والعقلية.
