يعتمد هذا الكتاب المنهج "التاريخي السردي التحليلي"، الذي هو مزيج من منهجين، الأول يُعبر عنه بالمنهج المتحرك عبر الزمن Diachronic، وهو منهج يدرس موضوع البحث من خلال متابعة وملاحقة الأحداث حسب التسلسل الزمني لوقوعها، والثاني يُعبر عنه بالمنهج المتزامن Synchronic، وهو منهج يتوقف عند لحظة زمنية معينة يدرس أبعاد الحدث ودلالاته ليفهم أعماقه وتشعب علاقاته.
