هذا الكتاب لا يستهدف تفنيد إدِّعاءات تيار الإلحاد الجديد، وإنّ تناول بعضها عرضاً، كما لا يستهدف بإلحاح إقناع المُلْحدين بوجود الله سبحانه وتعالى... لماذا؟ لأنَّ الإقتناع لا يحصل عادة بمجرَّد الإطلاع على الأدلة... فالأدلة هي من الوسائل التي قد تُؤدِّي إلى الإقتناع في ظل شروط معينة، الإقتناع يُفترض أن يحصل نتيجة وجود أدلة صلّبة من ناحية، وعدم وجود موقف نفسي مسبق من ناحية أخرى.
وفي هذا الكتاب، حاولتُ أن أقدِّم أدلة صلبة لصالح الإيمان بالله تعالى، قد أكونُ محامياً فاشلاً لقضية صادقة، فشَلي لا يعنَي عدم صدق القضيَّة التي أدعي صحَّتها، ولو كنتُ محامياً ناجحاً، وكانت أدلَّتي صلْبة، فهذا لا يعني أن القارئ سيقتنع بالضرورة، لأنَّه قد يحملَ في نفسه أحكاماً نهائيَّة مسبقة تجاه الإيمان بالله تعالى، وعندئذٍ لن يتزحزح موقفه مهما قدم له الآخرون معطيات وأدلَّة.
إذاً للإقتناع شروط مُعقدة، بعضُها يتعلق بالأدلة نفسها، والإطار الفكري العام الذي تُقدَّم في سياقه، وبعضُها يتعلَّق بالمُتلقِّي نفسه، موقفه المسبق، تجارُبه الشخصية، بيئته الثقافية، توقعاته، رغباته... إلخ، وإن كان بوسعي بذل أقصى جهد لإحكام الأدلَّة، فليس بوسعي توفير هذه الشروط بالنسبة للمُتلقي، لأن الأمر يتعلق به.
هذا الكتاب يستهدفُ مخاطبة المُتشكك المُتردد، كما يستهدف مخاطبة المُلْحد الذي يُقيِّم موقفهُ الإلحادي بإستمرار، بالإضافة إلى المؤمن بالله عزّ وجلّ الذي يريد إعادة بناء إيمانه على أسُسٍ عقلانية.
