هذا الكتاب استهدف السَّيرَ خطوةً عن طريق التعرُّف إلى صدْقِ نبوَّة محمَّد، من خلال التعرُّف إلى أديان ومذاهب أهل الكتاب.
فالقرآن الكريم يدَّعي أنَّ ما يحمِلهُ أهلُ الكتاب، في زمن بعثةِ النَّبيَّ محمَّد، من معلوماتٍ مُسْبقةٍ وثقافة عامة، كان يُؤهّلهُم لمعرفةِ أنَّه نبيُّ صادقٌ.
كما يعرفُ كلُّ واحدٍ منهم أبناءه، لذا كان لا بد من الحفْرِ في أديان ومذاهب أهل الكتاب، للتعرُّف إلى الرُّؤية الكونيَّةِ والمعارف العامةِ التي يحمِلُونها، ولو بنحوٍ موجزٍ ومضغوط.
إن من المداخل المهمَّة للتعرُّف إلى صدّقِ نبوَّة نبي الإسلام محمَّد والقرآن، تقييمَ حزّمة المعارف التي جاءَ بها على ضوءِ حزّمةِ المعارف التي ورَدَت في التَّوراةِ والإنجيل، وعلى ضوءِ الثقافة المشتركة التي حملَها اليهودُ والنَّصارى آنذاك، بقطّعِ النَّظر عن الفُرُوق التَّفصيليَّةِ بينهم، فمن خلال المقايسة بين تينك الحزّمتينِ من المعارف، يمكنُ الوصول إلى إقتناع وإيمانٍ بأنَّها صادرةٌ عن ينّبوعٍ واحد.
البحثُ في هذا الكتاب ينقسِمُ إلى بابين: البابُ الأول يستعرضُ المسيحيةَ بنظرةٍ عامة، من حيثُ التاريخ، وأهمّ الإعتقادات والشَّعائر والفِرَق، والبابُ الثاني يدّرُسُ المسيحية بنحوٍ أعمق، فيذهبُ إلى الجذورِ والمرتكزاتِ الأساسية التي انطلقتْ منها المسيحيةُ، فيتحدَّثُ عن مسيحيةِ بولس، والصِّراعِ مع اليهود، وحادثةِ الصَّلْب، ومضمونِ البشارة الذي جاءَ بها المسيح.
