ينشأ عن الجوار دائماً مصالح متوافقة أو متناقضة بين المتجاورين، وهذا مبدأ عام، ينطبق على العرب والأتراك الذين يسكنون وطنين متجاورين. وجدير بالذكر أن العرب والأتراك ليسوا جيراناً فحسب، وإنما يجمعهم دين واحد أيضاً، كما عاشوا ردحاً من الزمن معاً في ظل دولة واحدة هي الدولة العثمانية. وقد تأثرت العلاقة بين الشعبين سلبياً، بعد زوال الدولة العثمانية ونشوء الدولة التركية الحديثة واستقلال الدول العربية. تستعرض هذه الدراسة العلاقات العربية-التركية في مراحلها المختلفة، موضحة العوامل المؤسسة لها، والقضايا المشتركة بين الشعبين، ولاسيما المياه والحدود ومشكلة الأكراد. ثم تتناول التطلعات المشتركة بين الشعبين، بعد وصول حزب الرفاه بتوجهاته الإسلامية المعروفة إلى سدة الحكم، ولا تغفل الحديث عن أصابع إسرائيل التي تعمل على إفساد العلاقات بين الطرفين العربي والتركي.
