في كتابه "العلاقات العربية- التركية" يتناول الدكتور "عمر الحضرمي" إشكالية قديمة- حديثة تحكم نظرة تركيا للعرب والتي يتم على أساسها صياغة نمط العلاقة التي تربط بينهما.
يعتبر مؤلف الكتاب أن تركيا بحكم تصورها في علاقتها مع الجوار العربي خمسة مكونات من أهمها: أن تركيا وريثة لامبراطورية كانت أحد الأقطاب الدولية، وطبع هذا الدولة التركية الحديثة بحلم قيام علاقات تقوم على ما يعرف بالولايات العربية العثمانية، وثانيها توجهها نحو الغرب طمعاً في المكاسب الإقتصادية، وثالثها أن هذا الإرتباط (التركي-الغربي والتركي- الأمريكي) لم يأت بالنفع الذي كان مرجواً، مما خلق... نوعاً من الإحباط، ورابعها إدراك تركيا حجم القدرة الإقتصادية العربية وخاصة ما وجد في دول النفط. وخامساً وأخيراً أن تركيا تتمتع بمؤهلات كثيرة مما يجعلها أحد اللاعبين الأقوياء، خاصة بعد إنطلاق العملية السلمية والتحرر من القيود السياسية السابقة وفق أن العراق لمركزه حسب التوزيع الجديد لمراكز القوى.
توزَع الكتاب على ثلاثة محاور تمثلت بـ (جزء تمهيدي) تناول فيه الكاتب العلاقات الدولية بشكل عام في فصلين: تحدث الفصل الأول عن: المفاهيم والنظريات والمعطيات في العلاقات الدولية، والثاني تحدَث عن: النظام الإقليمي العربي والشرق أوسطي، وأما (الجزء الأول) فتناول: العلاقات العربية- التركية وجاء في فصلين أيضاً: الفصل الأول شكَل: مقاربات للعلاقات العربية الجوارية في المضمون الشرق أوسطي، والثاني في:العلاقات العربية – التركيَة، تاريخها وفواعلها وواقعها (التقارب والتضاد). وأما (الجزء الثاني) فكان: رؤية في مستقبل العلاقات العربية –التركية ويضم فصلان: الأول في: مقومات الدور التركي في المنطقة، والثاني في: إحتمالات التباعد ةالتقارب في العلاقات العربية – التركية.
