الشوكولاتة الساخنة (وتسمى في مصر كاكاو) مشروب ساخن يصنع من الشوكولاتة أو من مسحوق الكاكاو، والسكر مضاف للحليب أو الماء، يعتقد أن أول مشروب شوكولاتة تم إنشاؤها بواسطة المايا حوالي 2000 سنة مضت، ومشروب الكاكاو كان جزءا أساسيا من ثقافة الآزتك خلال 1400 م.
