السير جيمس ماثيو باري (بالإنجليزية: James Matthew Barrie ) وهو حامل درجة البارونيتية الأولى (رتبة وراثية أو درجة شرف تحت البارون وفوق الفارس) ولد في 9 آذار 1860- وتوفي في 19 حزيران 1937. هو كاتب عمومي وكاتب مسرحي. وهو معروف بكتابته حول شخصية بيتر بان، وهو الصبي الذي رفض أن يكبر، واستوحى كتابته من الأطفال الذي كان وصيا عليهم، وهم أطفال لولين دافيز. ويعود الفضل له في شيوع اسم ويندي، الذي سمى به بطلة بيتر بان.

شرت ” بيتربان ” أو ” الصبي الذي لا يكبر أبدًا ” أول مرة عام 1904. وقد كتبها باري تخليدًا لذكرى أخيه الذي مات في حادثة تزلج قبل بلوغه الرابعة عشر، وظلت أمه تراه صبيًا للأبد.
