تتناول الرواية قصة حياة البطلة "ريتا" التي تصارع الحياة من أجل إنقاذ نفسها من الوقوع في براثن الشر، والذي تراه متجسداً في شخصيات كثيرة أحاطتها، وهي تحاول أن تلف حول عنقها خيوطاً تشبه خيوط أنثى العنكبوت السامة، فتهرب من رؤيته في بيتها وسط صراعات ممتدة بين الطفلة المتمردة وأمها زهوة، تهرب إلى عملها في الصحافة لتواجه رئيس التحرير الذى يدعي الثورة وفي الجانب الآخر يجهض حقوق شباب الصحفيين، كل ذلك يشكل لها ولأصدقائها عالماً ممزوجاً بالخيبة الشخصية التي تمتزج مع الخيبة السياسية فى عهد مبارك، فتقوم الثورة وتتبخر أحلامها مع الثوار...
عبر صفحات هذه الرواية تحاول البطلة القفز على كل الخيبات التي واجهتها، فتغلق كل صفحات الماضي المؤلمة، وتعود إلى غرفتها التي تسميها غرفة الهجر، وتبدأ في الكتابة لتحتمي بها كمصدر للأمان.
"أنثى العنكبوت" رواية تدور أجواؤها في عالم غرائبي يمتزج بالواقع فيزيده دهشة وتشويقاً، وتتحرك الشخصيات داخل الرواية في ثورة متلاحقة لتتمرد على ذواتها، وكأنها تريد تمزيق الواقع لرسمه من جديد.
