هذا الكتاب هو نقد للحركات الإسلامية المعاصرة التي تأثرت بالعلمانية، وتسربت المفاهيم العلمانية الغربية إلى جوهر أفكارها، حيث بدأ المؤلف بالحديث عن إشكالية المرجعية في الخطاب السياسي الإسلامي المعاصر، ثم الغايات والوسائل في قضية تحكيم الشريعة، ثم تحدث عن إشكالات الهوية، ثم بحث قضية الحرية والمساواة، فتناول ما يتعلق بالحريات الفردية، ثم العقوبات الشرعية، ثم قضية التسامح والمساواة وعقيدة الولاء والبراء، لينتقل بعد ذلك إلى الحديث عن تطور تسرب العلمانية إلى الحركة الإسلامية، وأسباب ذلك، ثم تحدث عن آفاق العلاج، وبذلك ختم الكتاب.
