لقد ساهمت، في حقيقة الأمر، كلّ تلفزيونات الحي الروسي بِنفض الغبار، الذي كان قد راكمه الزمن، عن مشاعر الناس القديمة تجاه عصام منذ بداية الأحداث عندما عمّت المظاهرات عدداً من مدن وبلدات البلاد، غير أن الفظائع، المتواصلة في الليل والنهار على شاشات التلفزيونات، منذ تساقط القتلى بين المتظاهرين، وما تلا ذلك من تشكيل الأولوية والكتاب والفيالق المجاهدة في سبيل الله تعالى، وإستمرار وصول الجنود القتلى من أولاد الحي الروسي، وبدءِ تدفَق قذائف الهاون القادمة من الغوطة فوق رؤوسهم، وتزايد أعداد الموتى من المعتقلين الذي أصبح يُعثر عليهم عراةً مشوّهين مُكبّلين في البساتين وفوق تلال القمامة، ثم إمعان الطائرات بقصف المدن وإزالة بعض الأحياء والبلدات الصغيرة من الوجود، ما لبث كلّ ذلك أن جعل حضور عصام في أذهان الناس، في اليقظة وفي الأحلام، حضوراً كثيفاً ساطعاً وغير مسبوق.
لكنّ أحداً في الحي الروسي ما كان ليتوقّع، عندما واصلت الأمور إلى هذا الحدّ من الفظاعة، أن يكون لتلفزيوننا على سطح حديقة الحيوانات دورٌ مميز في تأجيج الحاجة إلى عصام في حكاية جديدة عاجلة، برغم حجمه الصغير بالمقارنة مع تلفزيونات الحيّ الأخرى ذات الشاشات الضخمة والمواصفات الحديثة في الكثير من المطاعم والمقاهي والبارات والبيوت.
