لا بدّ لي من الإعتراف هنا بأن السلمون لا يتكاثر في أنهارنا لكي يعود إليها؛ هذه حقيقة لا أستطيع إنكارها للأسف بغض النظر عن قناعاتي الراسخة، أيّ إنسان محبّ لبلاده يستطيع أن يقتنع بسهولة بما يريحه، لكن ذلك لا يُلزم السلمون بشيء أبداً، هل تفهمني؟... أعني أن السلمون لن يغيّر سلوكه كرمى لقناعاتي أو قناعاتك أو قناعات أي إنسان.
السلمون سمك محترم وعنيد كما قلت لك، ويحتاج إلى صعوبات كثيرة لكي يعود إلى نهره الأول، أقصد لا بد له من دببة تنتظره عندما يعود، والدببة عموماً ألعن من السلمون، لا تتحمل العيش عندنا، تهرب، وأنت في النهاية لا تستطيع أن توظّف حارساً على كل دب.
أعني أنك لن تجبر دباً على إنتظار سلمون لن يأتي، ثم من أين ستأتي بالطيور الضخمة وتقنعها هي أيضاً بإنتظار السلمون؟... ولا تنس الشلّالات العالية كيف ستؤمّنها لأنهارنا النحيلة، لأن السلمون.
اعذرني ولكنه حين يعود يحب السباحة عكس التيار والقفز فوق الشلالات، وعليك أن تنقل من أجله صخوراً هائلة من الجبال تضعها تحت الشلالات مباشرة لكي يتحطم عليها السلمون الذي يفشل بالقفز.
وكل ذلك صعب ومكلف، لكنّ الإرلنديين ضحوا على السلمون، هل تعرف؟؟... كل سلمون إرلندا تقليد، أنشؤوا له الصعوبات التي يحبها على أنهارهم، شلالات إصطناعية عالية، صخور هائلة جلبوها من أماكن بعيدة، وطيور ضخمة ودببة ربّوها خصّيصاً من أجله على ضفاف الأنهار، فانطوش السلمون وصار يعود إليهم أيضاً يتحطم ويبيض.
علّموه فتعلّم فما بالك... اعذرني، بالإنسان، هل تنكر أن للإنسان ستين روحاً؟... مثل أرواح السلمون الإرلندي، لأ؟... قل لي لو سمحت!...
