و رواية ذائقة الموت قد كتبها الكاتب الأردني أيمن العتوم محاولًا من خلالها مناقشة فلسفة ثلاثة من الأشياء المركزية في حياة الإنسان. فأراد العتوم من خلال هذه الرواية مناقشة فلسفة الحب والموت والحرية. وهذه الأشياء كثر تناولها من الجانب الفلسفي من الكثير، ولكن تناول المؤلف لها في هذه الرواية كان من بُعد مختلف.
وقد جسّد العتوم فلسفة الأشياء الثلاث من خلال شخصية صنعها بخيالة في الرواية، وقسّم حياته إلى ثلاث مراحل: المرحلة الأولى هي مرحلة نشأته في القرية وحبه لوطنه، والمرحلة الثانية مرحلة الجامعة حيث أصبح قائدًا شعبيًا يحشد الناس للاعتراض على العدوان الأمريكي والصهيوني على العرب، والمرحلة الأخيرة بدأت بدخوله السجن وبقائه فيه لمدة كبيرة.
