في المقدمة التي يفتتح بها جمعة اللامي مؤلفه (اليثنيون) يقول: يجد القارىء الكريم في هذا الكتاب ، تفاعلاً أقصى مع مرحلة التأسيس في تجربتي الأدبية، التي ضمنتها نصوصاً شعرية، ومقتبسات سردية، ولوحات تشكيلية وصوراً فوتوغرافية لشعراء وفنانين، ومنحوتات لكبار النحاتين، وبعض صور الآلهة والقديسين والملائكة والأبالسة والشياطين في الحضارات الإنسانية والديانات البشرية".
ومن هذا المفتتح النصّي، يبدأ الكاتب تقديم عمله متخذاً من سيرته الحياتية اليومية والمهنية استراتيجية لبناء النص في مادته، فتحضر بغداد بحكاياتها القديمة، وعناوين أخرى: تاريخ العار في بلاد النفطار، وليكشف الكاتب غموض يكتنف هذا النص (اليثينيون) يقول فيه: "حين أنجزت كتابة "تاريخ العار في بلاد النفطار، وجدت زميلين إثنين يجالسانني في غرفة مكتبتي: بورخيس اليشني الذي يشبهني في صفات وأفكار كثيرة، لا سيما أنه ينتمي إلى قبيلة بني لام التي استوطنت مدينة العمارةـ وانتشرت مضارب كثير من أبنائها بين إيشاني "فليفلة" و "السروط"، مروراً بـ "خويط السلطان" والحمادات الأخرى بين واسط والعمارة، والثاني هو بورخيس الأرجنتيني الذي يتماثل تماماً مع زميله اليشني. وهذه نكتة لا تحدث إلا في أحلامي أنا شخصياً، وأحلام صديقي الأشيرين. وحين تباحثت مع جواد سليم في هذا الشأن في رؤيا لي ذات ليلة صيفية مقمرة، نزع قناعاً على وجهه فصار رابعنا".
وعليه، يجتمع في هذا الكتاب، الدب والشعر والتاريخ والفلسفة والفن، وقد انسلت في الكتاب تحت عناوين رئيسية تبدأ بـ "حفريات شخصية" ، مروراً بـ "فليفلة والسروط: قصة حب ميسانية" ، "تجارب سردية" ، "المتون" ، "مقامات السنسول" ، "كاغد المطارحات" ، "تسع وتسعون قصة وقصة" و "قصر هجيدخ" ... وعناوين أخرى.
يُذكر أن: جمعة اللامي هو (جمعة عجيل درويش اللامي الطائي) – روائي وقاص عراقي. نشر أعمال الأدبية في الصحف والمجلات العربية منذ سنة 1965؛ وجرى تكريمه بجوائز إبداعية راقية في مجالات القصة والرواية، وترجم الكثير من أعماله الأدبية إلى عدد من اللغات الدنبية ...
