تتجاوز هذه الدراسة الإستقرائية بمنهجها الإحصائي الدقيق الأحكام المجملة والمواقف المسبقة التي تتداولها بعض الأبحاث عن موضوع الروايات عن بني إسرائيل في التفسير ومنهج ابن جرير الطبري رحمه الله، وذلك عبر ثلاثة مسارات أساسية: المسار الأول يرصد رواة الإسرائيليات، في طبقة الصحابة والتابعين وأتباعهم، ومقدار مروياتهم، ويحلل الدلالات العلمية لتلك الإحصائيات.
وفي المسار الثاني يصنّف الباحث الإسرائيليات الواردة في تفسير الطبري بحسب موضوعها الذي تتناوله، فبعضها ورد في ما يتعلق ببدء الخلق وبعضها في ذكر أخبار الأنبياء السابقين وغير ذلك، ويكشف عن دلالة نتائج هذا التصنيف الموضوعي.
وفي المسار الثالث يتتبع مقاصد إيراد الروايات الإسرائيلية في تفسير الطبري، ونسبة كل مقصد من مجمل المقاصد الواردة، ودلالات الإستقراء المفصّل لهذا المسار.
