ولد وفيق غريزي في بتاتر في جبل لبنان عام 1942 وهو شاعر وناقد وباحث. تلقى علومه الثانوية والجامعية في القاهرة ومارس التعليم في عدد من ثانويات الجبل.

الوطن عند وفيق غريزي، "الشاعر والإنسان" ليس الأرض، ولا الجغرافيا، الوطن هو الإنسان، هو السلام الإنساني على هذه الأرض، وهو في نصوصه عن الوطن، يصنع من جمالية المفارقة أدواته المفضلة للتعبير عن وجوه الغياب المحفورة على جدران وطنه (لبنان) العزيز على قلبه، حيث نجد للوطن مكاناً في (الأعمال الشعرية الكاملة) / الجزء السادس ومن تلك النصوص النص الذي جاء تحت عنوان "سفر التراب والمياه" معبراً فيه عن الشقاء الإنساني، وعن هذا الواقع الشرس الذي مرت به الأمة، يقول الشاعر: "... تاريخ أمتي، يحتضر، يموت، / نسي أنه البداية / ينام في سرير عنكبوت / يدق أجراس النهاية، / امرأة من زهور الأقحوان / من البنوة / هي إيحاء لنا .. ونبوة / الليل طريق / يهز البحر / موتنا إبحار، وبقايانا / ثورة تجيء، أو حروف الأبجدية / الزمن الموبوء يصنع من لحم الضحية / خبزاً / ويرضع من ثدي الصبية ...".
يضم الكتاب "الأعمال الشعرية الكاملة" للشاعر اللبناني وفيق غزيري (الجزء السادس) ويحتوي على خمسة مجاميع شعرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: 1- مجنون "س، 2- رماد أيامنا يغطي: الوسائد، 3- قصائد حب، 4- ألمي احتضار الحضارات، و5- سفر التراب.
