أثارت غادة السمان بنتاجها الأدبي الجريء والمغاير لمعظم القيم الأدبية السائدة، اهتمام الكثيرين من الدارسين والنقاد، الأمر الذي حدا بهم إلى تناول وتحليل هذا النتاج من جوانب مختلفة، ولكن بقدر لا يستهان به من التحامل والعدائية فيما خص مسألة الجنس التي تحتل حيّزاً ملفتاً من نتاجها الأدبي، كونها ترتبط مباشرة بمفهوم الحرية-المعيار الأرقى لأنانية الإنسان ومطلب كل أدب وغايته باعتقادها.
ولعل هذا بالذات ما دفع بالمؤلف وفيق غريزي إلى التركيز في هذا الكتاب على هذا الجانب من نتاجها تحديداً، والانكباب على تناول هذا الموضوع الذي يمتحور حول الجنس في أدب غادة السمان بكل فصوله وفروعه: الحب، الزواج، استلاب المرأة، التحرر الجنسي، الضياع الجنسي، الثورة الجنسية... إلخ.
