تتقاسم الرستن مع كثير من المناطق السورية جزءاً مهماً من أدبها الشعبي, فالثقافة الشعبية العربية الواحدة قد دمجت الكثير من مقومات ومفردات الأدب الشعبي العربي, ونستطيع أن نعد منطقة الرستن ذات تراث شعبي ثر, ومع أن ذلك من ميزات البلاد الشامية كلها, لكن الرستن بالتحديد كان لها امتياز خاص, سببه هو تنوع البيئة الطبيعية فيها, ما بين التل والنهر والسهل, الذي تبعه تنوع في النشاط الاقتصادي, إضافة الى موقعها المتوسط في قلب سورية عند معبر استراتيجي على نهر العاصي, فانعكس كل ذلك على مشاعر الإنسان وحياته فترجمه غناءً وأمثالاً وأساطير وحكايات. وهذا العمل هو خطوة لجمع ما تبقى من التراث الشعبي العربي في هذه البقعة من الأرض.
