جاءت فكرة تأليف هذا الكتاب عندما قمت بدراسة مادة علم النفس الاجتماعي التربوي على مستوى الماجستير والدكتوراه والدراسات الأولية وكانت لدي محاضرات كثيرة في هذا المضمار مما حدى بي أن أطور ما درسته في أساسيات علم الاجتماع النفسي التروبي باعتباره أقرب الاختصاصات إلى اختصاص الإرشاد النفسي بل وهو جزء من الإرشاد النفسي التربوي مع تزاوج كثير من النظريات الإرشادية مع النظريات لعلم الاجتماع التربوي. فقد كان هذا الكتاب يتألف من ثمانية فصول وقد عالج الفصل الأول ماهية علم الاجتماع وتعاريف نظرة شمولية وعلاقة الإسلام بعلم الاجتماع، وعلم الاجتماع التربوي في التراث العربي الإسلامي. أما الفصل الثاني فقد تضمن تطبيقات توجه الجماعة في التربية والفصل الثالث تطبيقات توجيه الجماعة في تنمية المجتمع وفي الخدمة الاجتماعية. أما الفصل الرابع فقد تضمن أخيار القادة وتدريبهم على العلاقات الإنسانية، وقد تضمن الفصل الخامس علاقة علما لاجتماع بالعلوم الأخرى والسادس تضمن الاتجاهات وقياسها. أما الفصل السابع فقد تضمن التطبع الاجتماعي والتفاعل الاجتماعي، وقد كان الفصل الثامن عن الشخصية ونظرياتها الاجتماعية.
