تحت عنوان "نظرة عامة في الشؤون اللبنانية والذهنية السياسية" يكشف هذا الكتاب، بعض الحقائق التاريخية للوضع اللبناني أثناء الإنتداب الفرنسي للبنان، كما يكشف للقارىء بعض إتجاهات السياسة اللبنانية التقليدية، كما برزت بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية وتبلورت بشكل خاص في مستهل النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين. إن هذه الحقائق التاريخية، تشكل المرتز الورائي لعناصر الإنكماش والإنعزالية في لبنان كما يوضحها لنا المعلم كمال جنبلاط في هذا الكتاب، والتي تفسر إلى حد ما تخلف لبنان عن القضية العربية في تلك الآونة.
وفي هذا السياق، يلقي المؤلف نظرة عامة حول وضع الطوائف في لبنان (السنّة – الشيعة – المسيحيون – الدروز) والعوامل التي أجّجت النزاعات الداخلية في البلاد ودور التدخل الأجنبي (السياسة الفرنسية) إبان العهد الوطني، ومنها فكرة الحماية الدولية والإختراق الرأسمالي عبر استحداث مؤسسات اقتصادية أجنبية (شركة المرفأ، شركة شكا للترابة – شركة الريجي – مصرف سوريا ولبنان إلخ...)، كما يبرز الكتاب بوادر ظهور الفكرة الوطنية في لبنان وتطورها منذ سنة 1922، والنضال الوطني منذ بداية عهد الإنتداب وحتى أواسط سبعينيات القرن العشرين، كما ويتناول مسائل إجتماعية وسياسية وتاريخية وجيوسياسية، وغيرها من مسائل تتعلق بالبنى الإجتماعية والتشكيلات العائلية والذهنية السياسية العشائرية القائسمة في مناطق مثل (الهرمل، عكار) حتى بوادر ظهور فكرة الوحدة العربية أي توحيد جميع الأقطار الناطقة بلغة الضاد، وبروز فكرة الجامعة العربية، وتفتح لبنان للوعي القومي، والموقف من الدين والدولة وفكرة الحريات ... كما يحتوي الكتاب على خطب ومقالات للمعلم كمال جنبلاط في مناسبات مختلفة.
