الذي يعيد قراءة هذه المقالات ويستمع لهذه المحاضرات، يخيل إليه، إذا أغمض عينيه عن التواريخ، وكأنها كتبت هذا العام رداً على ما وصل إليه لبنان.
وأهم ما تحويه هذه المحاضرات التصور السياسي والاجتماعي الذي يقود إلى تجاوز الطائفية وبناء الوطن الموحد العلماني المنصهر قومياً مع محيطه العربي، وذلك في إطار اجتماعي اشتراكي يؤدي إلى إحقاق الديمقراطية الاجتماعية إلى جانب الديمقراطية السياسية. هذا التصور مبني على نظرة واقعية وموضوعية لتاريخ لبنان الحديث، وهو يشكل انعطافاً مهماً نحو استشفاف أهمية المد القومي العربي، المستوحي كما يبدو، من أفكار جمال عبد الناصر. هذا المد الذي ينفي تيار الانعزالية الطائفية والقومية اللبنانية العصبية.
ألقيت هذه المحاضرات بعد ثورة 1958 الوطنية مباشرة، وهي تستلخص الدروس والعبر من هذه الانتفاضة الشعبية الرائعة.
"فالثورات تدفع دوماً بالتاريخ دفعاً ثابتاً وموجهاً إلى الإمام، وتبدل بسرعة فائقة الطاقة النفسية عند الناس-شعباً وقادة- لأنها ترفع نضالهم السياسي إلى تطرفه الأقصى، إلى امتشاق السلاح وغلى التضحية الكبرى لأجل القضية.. إن الثورة كما كان يقول لينين هي قاطرة التاريخ".
وأهم ما تحويه هذه المحاضرات التصور السياسي والاجتماعي الذي يقود إلى تجاوز الطائفية وبناء الوطن الموحد العلماني المنصهر قومياً مع محيطه العربي، وذلك في إطار اجتماعي اشتراكي يؤدي إلى إحقاق الديمقراطية الاجتماعية إلى جانب الديمقراطية السياسية.
