إن أغلب الدراسات المعاصرة، إهتمت إهتماماّ خاصاّ بالإغتراب الى الحد الذي جعلته بمنزله القلق النفسي الذي يظهر كنتيجة لما يعيشه الإنسان بسبب تعرضه لظروف متطورة يمر بها المجتمع الإنساني، نتيجة للحروب والصراعات الطويلة ، التي ألحقت الضرر بكل فئات المجتمع ومنهم فئة المفكرين والأدباء الذين عانوا من اليأس والقلق اللذين ليسا سوى معنيين آخرين لللإغتراب). وبذلك أصبح الإغتراب مشكلة عصرية تفرض نفسها في كل مجالات الحياة. بل أضحى موضوعاّ أساسياّ في كا الدراسات الأدبية والإجتماعية والفنية وغيرها، وجهدت المؤسسات والجمعيات نفسها لتحديد معالم هذه الظاهرة.وتحديد تلك الأسباب التي تجول في خواطر الفرد وتجعله يترك وطنه أو يهجر مدينته بل تربته وموطن صباه وشعوره بالغربة القاسية لذا ظهرت أنماطه على بعض شعرائنا المعاصرين فهم لم يكونوا بمعزل عنه، فهم أكثر الناس تحسساّ لما يدور حولهم، فلحقت هذه الظاهرة بهم أكثر من غيرهم. ومنهم الشاعر عقيل علي الذي برزت هذه الظاهرة في شعره جلية واضحة للعيان، حيث تبين أنه عاش غربة حقيقية مع قصيدته ويكاد المتفحص لشعره يجد تلك الألفاظ المعبرة عن عمق غربته التي تظهر بين الفينة والأخرى دون عناء وكل هذه الألفاظ تصب في وعاء الإعتراب الذي وقع فيه الشاعر بعد كل الإنكسارات العميقة التي أوقعته بها الظروف البائسة التي تعرض لها فكانت هذه الدراسة بمثابة المجسات التي اخترقت حجب اغترابه وضبابيتها.
