مررنا في هذه الصفحات القليلة بالمعنى اللغوي لمصطلح الاغتراب وتطوره الدلالي في البيئات المختلفة خاصة في بيئة علم النفس والاجتماع والفسلفة، ورأينا معاني هذا المصطلح في بيئة منها والعوامل التي تؤدي إليه من خلال علاقة الفرد بالمجتمع وعلاقته بقضايا الوجود الفلسفية، ووقفنا وقفة خاصة عند الاغتراب في الفلسفة الوجودية لأن الوجودية أولت اهتمام كبيرًا للاغتراب وقضاياه المختلفة، وكانت أوضح الفلسفات تناولًا له، كما كانت أقرب الفلسفات إلى طبيعة الشعر التي هي موضوع دراستنا إن شاء الله.
ولما كان لا بد من وقفة عند الاغتراب من وجهة نظر شعرية لوصف اغتراب الشاعر، اعتقدنا أن الاغتراب الرومانسي أكثر وضوحًا وصلة باغتراب الوجودي وان اغتراب الرومانسي يستطيع أن يكون مثالًا لاغتراب كل شاعر إذا ما نحينا جانبًا المغالاة العاطفة للرومانسيين، فالرومانسي نموذج بالفعل للطبيعة الخاصة للشاعر وعلاقته بالمجتمع المادي وبالوجود ككل.
وقد حددنا ماهية الاغتراب وعوامله وأنواعه ونتائجه الشعورية من خلال هذه البيئات المختلفة بما يكفل لنا أن نبحث في شعر العصر العباسي عن ماهية اغتراب الشعراء بما يعين في تكشف مفهوم الاغتراب في شعر المعري.
