يندرج هذا الكتاب ضمن توجه عام يشغلني منذ بداية تعاملي مع النقد تنظيراً وتطبيقاً، ويتمثل في المفاهيم النقدية الغربية التي نتوسل بها في دراساتنا النقدية، ومن هذه المفاهيم سعيت إلى الوقوف في هذه الدراسة عند مفهوم "التعالي النصي"، أو التناص"، أو غيره من المفاهيم التي تدرس علاقات التفاعل والتداخل بين النصوص الأدبية.
فحتى وإن كان التناص، كما طرحته "جوليا كريستيفا" مصطلحاً ومفهوماً، هو الأكثر تداولاً في الدراسات النقدية العربية، والأقرب إلى وصف طبيعة العلاقة بين النصوص، إلا أنه ينبني على مفاهيم أخرى لعل أبرزها مفهوم "الحوارية" عند ميخائيل باختين، كما أن مفهوم التناص يجد إمتداداته في مفاهيم لاحقة من أهمها مفهوم "التعالي النصي" عند "جيرار جينيت".
وقد قسمت هذه الدراسة إلى سبعة فصول، الأول منها عبارة عن مدخل أحطت من خلاله بالتعالي النصي بشكل عام، من حيث المفهوم والمنهج والمصطلح، في حين خصصت الفصول الثلاثة الموالية للتنظيرات الغربية، فكان الفصل الثاني عن "الحوارية" عند "ميخائيل باختين"، والثالث حول "التناص" عند "جوليا كريستيفا"... وكذا عند بعض النقاد الفرنسيين الذين تبنوا التناص في دراساتها وتنظيراتهم، فيما أفردت الفصل الرابع للحديث عن "التعالي النصي" و"المتعاليات النصية"، عند الناقد الفرنسي "جيرار جينيت".
أما الفصول الثلاثة المتبقية من هذا الكتاب فقد تناولت من خلالها التفاعل النصي في الأدب والنقد العربيّين، حيث رصدت في الفصل الخامس بعض اشكال التفاعل النصي في الأدب العربي القديم، سواء في الشعر أم النثر، وفي الفصل السادس تحدثت عن السرقات في تناول النقاد والبلاغيين العرب القدامى، ثم ختمت بفصل سابع ألمحت فيه إلى بعض أشكال تلقي التعالي النصي في النقد العربي الحديث من خلال تجربة ثلاثة نقاد.
