يشير المؤلّف، في تقديمه، إلى أن العمل يندرج ضمن توجّه عام يتمثّل في المفاهيم التي نتوسّل بها في الدراسات النقدية، في سبيل دراسة مفهوم "التعالي النصي" أو "التناص" أو غيره من مفاهيم تناقش علاقات التفاعل والتداخل بين النصوص الأدبية.
تضمّ الدراسة سبعة فصول؛ الأول مدخل يحيط بقضية التعالي النصي، من حيث المفهوم والمنهج والمصطلح، في حين خُصّصت الفصول الثلاثة التالية للتنظيرات الغربية، فكان الفصل الثاني عن "الحوارية" عند ميخائيل باختين، والثالث حول "التناص" عند جوليا كريستيفا التي تنظر إلى النص بوصفه عملية إنتاج مثل الإنتاج الاقتصادي، وأطرافه هي المرسل والنص والمتلقي، وفي النص تتقاطع نصوص كثيرة سابقة ومعاصرة، ولذلك فالنص ذو بنية سطحية بلغته وأصواته وحروفه، وذو بنية مستترة، هي المولّدة للنص. كما يشتبك الكتاب مع مقولات بعض النقّاد الفرنسيين الذين تبنوا التناص في دراساتهم وتنظيراتهم.
وفيما أفرد الفصل الرابع للحديث عن "التعالي النصي"، و"المتعاليات النصية" عند الناقد الفرنسي جيرار جينيت، تتناول بقية الفصول التفاعل النصي في الأدب والنقد العربيين، حيث رصد الباحث في الفصل الخامس بعض أشكال التفاعل النصي في الأدب العربي القديم، سواءً في الشعر أو النثر.
الفصل السادس يتطرّق إلى السرقات في تناول النقاد والبلاغيين العرب والقدامي، بينما يبحث الفصل السابع والأخير بعض أشكال تلقّي التعالي النصي في النقد العربي الحديث من خلال تجربة ثلاثة نقّاد؛ هم باختين وكريستيفا وجينيت.
وُلد الفيلالي في مدينة وجدة المغربية عام 1974، ويحمل شهاده دكتوراه في الأدب العربي الحديث. له مؤلّفات نقدية عدّة؛ من بينها: "القصة القصيرة جدّاً بالمغرب"، و"رواية العلامة ين التاريخي والتخييلي"، و"رحلة الحكاية وحكاية الرحيل"، و"دراسات في الكتاب المدرسي".
