وُلد الإنسان مفطوراً على الحرية والإختلاف عن الآخر، فلا يجوز مطلقاً الإنتقاص من كرامته بهدر حقوقه أو إنتهاكها، لا سيما وأن جميع الأديان السماوية والقوانين الوضعية، جاءت لتكرس هذه الحقوق وتحددها من خلال النصوص والأحكام.
وقد أقامت الشريعة الإسلامية أحكامها، طبقاً لمبدأ العدل الذي يوجب التسوية بين الأفرقاء حتى مع المخالفين، على إعتبار أن الناس متساوون في عبوديتهم لله تعالى وأي تفاضل بينهم، على غير أساس من الحق والواقع، هو ظلم إجتماعي، على عكس ما ينادي به أصحاب الفكر المتشدّد إسلامياً، ويلاقي تأييداً أو دعماً إعلامياً في بعض الأوساط.
لا شك أن عدم المحافظة على الحقوق والحريات، الواجب إحترامها كما هو منصوص عليها في التشريعات الدينية والدستورية والدولية... قد تسبب بإنزلاق الدول والشعوب والأفراد، في مسارب فرعية مظلمة، لعدم التوفيق ما بين النص التشريعي وواقع الحياة، ما أسهم بنشر العداوة والبغضاء بين الناس وتأجيج الصراع المذهبي والطائفي الذي وصل حد الإقتتال والتكفير فيما بين الأحزاب المتناحرة.
وهذا الكتاب يتضمن دراسة تحليلية للأحكام التشريعية للعدل والأسباب المؤدية للتشرذم المذهبي والطائفي والسبل الكفيلة بمعالجتها، وموجبات حوار الأديان، والإعتدال أو التسامح، في حل مشكلة التطرف التي يعاني المجتمع البشري منها.
