بول ريكور (بالفرنسية: Paul Ricœur ) فيلسوف فرنسي وعالم إنسانيات معاصر ولد في فالينس، شارنت، 27 فبراير 1913، وتوفي في شاتيناي مالابري، 20 مايو 2005. هو واحد من ممثلي التيار التأويلي، اشتغل في حقل الاهتمام التأويلي ومن ثم بالاهتمام بالبنيوية، وهو امتداد لفريديناند دي سوسير. يعتبر ريكور رائد سؤال السرد. أشهر كتبه (نظرية التأويل -التاريخ والحقيقة-الزمن والحكي- الخطاب وفائض المعنى - Interpretation philosophic theory - Discourse and the Surplus of Meaning / من منشورات جامعة تكساس المسيحية عام 1976).

إن القضية التي يناقشها هذا الكتاب واضحة للعيان. يتعلق الأمر بصيغة \"الحب أو العدالة\" وليس بصيغة \"الحب والعدالة\". ففي اللغة المتداولة بل وحتى في مستوى أعلى من التأمل وخاصة عندما يُقدَّم المفهومان في حالة صراع ليس هناك ولا يمكن أن تكون هناك جسور تربط بين الممارسة الفردية لحب القريب والممارسة الجماعية للعدالة التي تضع المساواة والإنصاف نصب عينيها. وسواء فضَّلنا الحب أو فضلنا العدالة فإن التشديد يسير في اتجاه وجود عدم تناسب بين الحب والعدالة. وينحو فكر بول ريكور برمته منحى البرهنة على التناسب والعلاقات والجدلية العميقة والتوتر الحي والخصب القائم بين الحب والعدالة والذي يظهر إلى السطح لحظة الفعل. فكلٌّ من الحب والعدالة يندرجان هنا ضمن إشكالية الهبة التي تخرج بالكامل عن مجال فلسفة الأخلاق، ويحاولان أن يصبحا صورة منها ويستشعرا المسؤولية تجاهها. هكذا يأتي منطق الوفرة الفائضة ليرفع تحدّياً كبيراً أمام مبدإ التكافؤ دون أن نقلّل من الحاجة إليه .
نُشر هذا البحث بداية الأمر في ألمانيا في طبعة ثنائيّة اللغة وهو يجسد فكراً غير مسبوق في طبعته الفرنسية وقد ذُيّل الكتاب بمحاضرتين لهما صلة قرابة بالموضوع الأساسي.
