يعتبر الحج رحلة العودة إلى الله رحلة الانقطاع التام إلى الرب الرحيم، رحلة إدراك الحقائق التي طالما جسدها الإنسان وإن استيقنتها نفسها الإمارة بالسوء، ففي رحاب الحج يرى الإنسان المحشر رأى العين، ويستشعر واقعة الحتمي في كل منسك هو ناسكة محين يلبس إحرامه المكون من ثوبين إزاء ورداء كهيئة الكفن، يتذكر ساعة خروجه من قبره، فإنه وإن كان عليه حال حجه ما يواري به عورته ففي ساعة خروجه من قبره لا يجد عندها ما يواري به سوأته إلا من رحم ربك. فالحج هو الحشر الأصغر، وفي الحشر لا يبقى أحد إلا وهو متطلع إلى رحمة الله وعفوه.
ويهدف البحث الذي بين أيدينا إلى مدّ يد العون لكل مسلم راغب بقضاء فريضة الحج، وهو يقدم له كافة المعلومات اللازمة والتي يحتاجها ليكون حجه مقبولاً وسعيه مشكوراً، في الفصل الأول درا الحديث حول فصل الحج وثوابه وعقوبة تاركه وفيه أيضاً بيان الحابس عنه مع القدرة عليه، وفي الفصل الثاني دار الحديث عن فلسفة الحج وعلى اختيار موقع البيت الحرام كما وفيه تعرض لعلل المناسك وفلسفتها كالإحرام والتلبية والطواف واستلام الحجر والسعي والوقوف بالمشعرين والرمي والذبح أو النحر.
أما الفصل الثالث والأخير فخصص لعرض جملة من الوصايا التي لا يحسن بالمسلم الراغب بالحاج الاستغناء عنها ومنها نذكر: التقوى، ذكر المعاد، حفظ اللسان... كما وفيه ذكر لنماذج من حجج الصحابة والأئمة الفقهاء.
