أبحاث المؤتمر السنوي الثامن عشر لتاريخ العلوم عند العرب الذي انعقد في حلب خلال الفترة 10-12 تشرين الأول 1995م.
وقد توخينا في طباعة هذه الأبحاث الدقة العلمية والأمانة الموضوعية، ونقلها بالصيغة التي وردتنا من الباحثين بعد تحريرها وإعدادها.
وقمنا بتقسيم هذه الأبحاث تبعاً للمحاور الرئيسة للمؤتمر، وذلك وفقاً لما يلي:
- أبحاث حول الطبيب صالح بن نصر الله بن سلوم الحلبي.
- أبحاث تاريخ العلوم الأساسية.
- أبحاث تاريخ العلوم التطبيقية.
- أبحاث تاريخ العلوم الطبية.
- أبحاث عامة.
ونأمل أن تكون هذه الأبحاث مساهمة طيبة في الكشف عن مكنونات التراث العلمي العربي، ورافداً خيّراً لتقدم العلوم والمعارف، ومرجعاً غنياً للباحث والمهتم والمتعمق في التاريخ الحضاري والعلمي الذي يشهد بغزارة وغنى ما قدّمه العلماء العرب للعالم في مختلف ميادين العلم والمعرفة، فكان الأساس الذي ارتكزت عليه الحضارة المعاصرة.
وما قُدّم في هذا المؤتمر من أبحاث ومساهمات إنما هو جزء يسير من ثروة العرب العلمية والثقافية الواسعة والغنية، والتي نأمل أن تتضافر جهود المخلصين من الأمة في الكشف عن كنوزها وأسرارها، وتبيان ما اتسمت به إنجازاتها من خدمات إنسانية ومعرفية جليلة وطيبة للحضارة العالمية المعاصرة.
