اشترك في المؤتمر تسعة وعشرون باحثاً من العرب والأجانب توافدوا من الجامعات والمعاهد ومراكز البحوث المهتمة بتاريخ العلوم عند العرب التابعة للدول التالية: سورية، مصر، الأردن، اليمن، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، فلسطين، مصر، لبنان، إيران، أسبانيا.
يتضمن الكتاب أبحاثاً أصيلة في موضوعات تاريخ العلوم الأساسية والطب والتكنولوجيا عند العرب لم يتم نشرها سابقاً، وقد تناولت بعض موضوعات المؤتمر بشكل خاص ابن أبي أصيبعة صاحب "كتاب عيون الأنباء في طبقات الأطباء" الذي عاش وتوفي في صلخد.
نرجو أن تساهم تلك الأبحاث في إبراز الإضافات العلمية التي قدمها علماء الحضارة العربية للإنسانية في كافة فروع المعرفة العلمية.
